To speak of the election in the United States is to address its differences and fears which are what are its most prominent issues. The economy, the pandemic, and discord over the concern over not only rights of all citizens but the basic concepts of what the country alleges to represent. For instance, “We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created are created equal.” These words are the beginning of the preamble of the Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson. What is widely known but hardly addressed as a fundamental flaw is men referred to Caucasian men. All others including men of color, whom generally were slaves, and d all women were completely dismissed and left out of the statement. It is not mentioned the country was founded on white privilege.
It is 2020 and United States elections face issues as never before. Is the president working for a foreign agent or government? Is America truly about white privilege? A white supremacist march where Thomas Jefferson grew up and racial strife erupting when police kill unarmed black men give one concern. The dismissal of a global pandemic and a poor economy from the Republican party offer little comfort.
